coaches Updates
This Spring 2024 7's season we finished second overall this year in the SRC regular season out of 18 teams, which is made up of teams in all divisions of college rugby, including two varsity programs in Belmont Abbey and Lander. Belmont Abbey finished in front of us and then beat us in the semi finals of the conference finals tournament 19-5. We were also lucky to field a B side team a two different SRC tournaments and these players played well and had a great time on and off the pitch and it was awesome to see them grow as a team throughout the season. We traveled to another great tournament this spring at Virginia Tech. At the VT 7's tournament we won our pool which included a victory over VT who later this season ended up winning the D1 Mid Atlantic Rugby Conference. We then later lost in the semifinals to University of South Carolina who are the 3 time D1 Southeastern Rugby Conference Champions. After that we took a team that was 90% UNCW players and a couple Cape Fear HS alumni to Tampa Florida to play in Tropical 7's where we went 5-0 and won the U23 open division. This season the players and coaches have put in a lot of work and we are exctied to qualify for the National Collegiate Rugby 7's Championship playoffs. The tournament is located at the Maryland Soccer Complex at 18031 Central Park Circle, MD 20841. The tournament will be held from Friday, April 26 - Saturday, April 27. We need assistance with travel expenses and if you go to our donations page you can either donate via our goufundme, paypal 1 time & monthly donations, or via Venmo. Congratulations to Senior Flanker, Tommy McCrimmon on earning an all conference selection for last Falls 2018 15's season.
As well congrats to Tommy Mcrimmon for being selected to the USA Rugby College All American training camp August, 9th 2018.
